East Cobb restaurant update: Stockyard Burgers open at The Avenue; Everything Burger opens Saturday

Following up our previous post from a couple weeks back, today’s East Cobb restaurant update leads off with the subject of hamburgers, and specifically, new places to eat them.

After a soft launch over the weekend, Stockyard Burgers and Bones announced this morning that it’s open for lunch and dinner at The Avenue (4475 Roswell Road, in the former Brixx Pizza space).

The menu is the same as the other Stockyard locations. The hours are Sunday-Thursday from 11-9 and FridaySaturday from 11-10.

Fork U Concepts, the parent company of Stockyard, is also prepping a Johnson Ferry Road location for Taqueria Tsunami, in space formerly occupied by Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bagel. Fork U’s Alexis Kinsey told East Cobb News today that the company will have a better idea for a specific opening date after this week. “We are moving as fast as we can to get it open as well and shooting for mid-late May,” she said.

What Now Atlanta is reporting today that Everything Burger, a made-to-order eatery, is opening Saturday in the Blackwell Square Shopping Center (3372 Canton Road), and follows the original Everything Burger on Auburn Avenue in downtown Atlanta. Among the items are a shrimp baguette burger, and there will be a small (24-space) dining room for eat-in service.

East Cobb Stockyard Burgers and Bones opens next week; Taqueria Tsunami plans continue

East Cobb Stockyard Burgers and Bones

The long-awaited opening of the East Cobb Stockyard Burgers and Bones location (previous East Cobb News post here) is taking place next week.

Management at The Avenue posted the news on Friday, and the photo above is what we saw when we went by there earlier this afternoon. The establishment was granted an alcohol license by the Cobb Community Development Agency on March 22.

The Marietta-based Fork U Concepts, the parent company of Stockyard Burgers and Bones, is saying that it’s taking applications from 10-6 Monday through Saturday at the new East Cobb location (4475 Roswell Road, in the former Brixx Pizza space). Job-hunters can also apply online at the Stockyard Burgers and Bones website.

Fork U Concepts also is expected to open a Taqueria Tsunami location (1275 Johnson Ferry Road) at the former Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros. Bagel, and here’s what the site looks like now.

A revised site plan was approved by Cobb commissioners in September, and it includes removal of the drive-through window once part of Caribou and expanding parking to 42 spaces.

There’s mostly a lot of mud in the parking lot and work trucks and crews. A sign in a window says a liquor license has been applied for, but county records indicate one also was granted on March 22.

Stockyard Burgers and Bones coming to The Avenue East Cobb

Earlier this fall East Cobb News reported on plans to open a Taqueria Tsunami restaurant at the old Caribou Coffee/Einstein Bros. Bagel location on Johnson Ferry Road. As it turns out, the owners of that Marietta-based Latin-Asian fusion chain also have their eyes on expanding their Stockyard Burgers concept to East Cobb.

Scoop OTP is reporting that Fork U Concepts is planning an early 2018 opening for Stockyard Burgers and Bones at The Avenue East Cobb, in the former Brixx pizza location.

It’s the latest development in a flurry of news about forthcoming East Cobb restaurants. Last week we reported that La Novia Taqueria, operated by the Moxie Burger ownership team, is hiring for its new spot at Paper Mill Village.

Fork U Concepts has been gradually expanding its various restaurant brands in recent months in metro Atlanta. The company got and received a zoning stipulation from the Cobb Board of Commissioners to remove the drivethrough at the former Caribou Coffee and restripe the parking lot to expand availability to 42 spaces for Taqueria Tsunami, which is expected to open in March.

Stockyard Burgers and Bones first opened on the Marietta Square and has expanded to Vinings and soon will open in Sandy Springs. East Cobb will be its fourth location.

Taqueria Tsunami also began on the Marietta Square and has expanded to Woodstock, Athens, Roswell and Simpsonville, Ky. and also is planning an opening soon for Sandy Springs.

The Black Swan Tavern has been gearing up for opening at the Merchants Festival Shopping Center (1401 Johnson Ferry Road, in the old Churchill’s Pub space), since the summer. The owners from Dunwoody Restaurant Group announced Thursday that it also is beginning the hiring process, and that “the doors open next week.”
