At East Cobb News, we’re all about scaling walls.
The walls that have gone up in recent years between communities and local news that serves a vital function for them is the primary reason we started this venture, back in the summer of 2017.
We’ve found that when all citizens of a community—regardless of age, race, socioeconomic background or political views—have access to the same supply of local news, that community stands to benefit.
That’s why we founded East Cobb News without a paywall, and invited readers to contribute their news items.
It’s been a big undertaking, not just to scale those walls, but ideally to knock them down.

But since we launched, our hunch has paid off. Readers appreciate getting their local news as it happens, and how they like it—directly from our website, or social media channels, or newsletter. Or a combination.
They also love sending us news to share with the community. Earlier this week, we announced an even easier way to do that. It’s called Partyline, and with just a few clicks you can send us your photos, videos and news, and we’ll publish them for all to enjoy.
We also appreciate the financial support we get from readers, so we can keep this community news and information resource free to all who read it.
But East Cobb News also is a local small business, and we have bills to pay that are increasing. We don’t have any plans to put up a paywall, but we do ask readers that if they value what they get from East Cobb News, to consider making a voluntary donation.
