The Cobb Sheriff’s Office said Monday that a detainee at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center has died after suffering a heart attack.
Robert Hardy, 64, was pronounced dead on Sunday after being rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, according to a statement by Cobb Sheriff’s Office spokeman Hassan Glenn.
Glenn said that Hardy was found in a state of cardiac arrest on Friday and medical aid was rendered before he was hospitalized and placed on a ventilator.
“Despite life-saving measures, Hardy did not have a viable path to recovery; his family made the difficult decision to end his care,” Glenn said in the statement.
Hardy had been at the jail since June 11Â on charges of first-degree arson, driving over a fire hose, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.
