Unity North Church of Atlanta (4255 Sandy Plains Road) is reporting that vandals caused “thousands of dollars in property damage” recently and has posted photos from a surveillance camera to help locate the suspects.
Anthony Jayesingha, executive director of the church, told East Cobb News that “We have 2 police reports in, still assessing the damage—a few glass doors and a few windows have been broken.”
The photos from a video captured by church cameras shows one of two young males covering his face. At the end of the 11-second video, he’s seen throwing an object as both are looking up at the camera.
Jayesingha followed up to tell us that “we have one family that has owned up so far.”

Road incident leads to assault charge
A Northeast Cobb man has been held without bond since last Wednesday after allegedly threatening two people with a gun while in his car on Canton Road.
According to an arrest warrant, John Michael Wier Sr., 50, of a Lakewood Drive address, is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and reckless conduct for brandishing a 9-millimeter handgun at two people on July 15 near the Chevron station at 3349 Canton Road.
The warrant states that Wier was driving a black 2003 Dodge Durango when he stopped beside another vehicle and yelled obscenities at the two people inside.
When the light turned green, according to the warrant, Wier pulled ahead of the other vehicle and “pointed the handgun at both victims. He pointed the handgun with his right hand, out the driver’s window.”
When officers arrived at his home a short time later, they also found a sawed-off rifle that according to the warrant did not possess a required tax stamp from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Suspect facing California fugitive charge
A man with an East Cobb address is being held without bond while he awaits extradition to California, according to an arrest warrant.
Mark Stephen Jansen, of a Karls Gate address, was arrested there last Thursday on a felony warrant in San Diego, Calif., where is wanted for fraud, according to the warrant.
He was taken into custody at the Cobb Adult Detention Center and remains there until his extradition by the “appropriate agency.”
