Two Democrats seeking to unseat long-standing Republican incumbents in East Cobb will be holding a joint community kickoff event on Thursday.
Kevin Redmon, a candidate for District 3 on the Cobb Board of Commissioners, and Michelle Schreiner, who is vying for State House Seat 45 in the Georgia General Assembly, will meet with voters Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Chimney Springs subdivision clubhouse (4350 Lake Chimney Court).
According to a release sent by Redmon’s campaign, attendees “will have the opportunity to meet both candidates, hear about their campaigns and learn about upcoming volunteer and canvassing opportunities. The campaigns will also collect school supplies for distribution in the community.”
Redmon is on the November ballot against four-term Republican commissioner JoAnn Birell in Disrict 3, which includes most of East Cobb.
Schreiner is facing State Rep. Sharon Coooper, a Republican who has been in office since 1997 and is chairwoman of the House Health Committee.
Democrats are challenging Republican incumbents throughout East Cobb, which has long been a GOP stronghold.
Those races include the Cobb Board of Education and other state legislative seats.
