Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta said on Monday that what it’s calling “a routine training exercise” this week may generate more attention than usual from the public.
That’s because “there may be noise impacts to the areas surrounding the installation, and community members should be assured that these are for exercise purposes only. The activities are part of a controlled, simulated training environment that is essential to the readiness and preparedness of our force.”
Dobbins is the home of the 94th Airlift Wing of the Air Force Reserve Command, featuring a fleet of C-130 Hercules transport planes, and is thebase for its 22nd Air Force.
Dobbins also is the home of an aviation service facility for the U.S. Army National Guard and reserve units of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy.
The Dobbins message—posted from a social media account of the 94th Airlift Wing—said on Monday that “in the event of any real-world incidents, notifications will be made through our on- and off-base community emergency management partners.
“Dobbins Air Reserve Base appreciates the community’s understanding and continued support.”
