Twelve students attending high schools in East Cobb have been named to the 2026-27 class of Cobb Youth Leadership, “a development program sponsored by the Leadership Cobb Alumni Association and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta that focuses on developing leadership skills through interactive participation,” according to a release from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.
CYL was created by the Chamber in 1989 and the selected students are high school juniors who began the application process as sophomores. Around 60 students are chosen each year, and here’s what they do during the school year:
“Through six evening programs during the course of the school year participants in the CYL program are introduced to local, state, and national leaders. They also receive information on the responsibility, ethics, and tools for effective leadership, as well as potential career paths for after graduation.”
The following CYL class members are from East Cobb:
- Johnson Ferry Christian Academy: Brooks Baughman
- Lassiter High School: Niyamat Kaur, Grace Qian
- Pope High School: Callie Cochran, Maret Dickerson
- Sprayberry High School: Alex Duke
- Walton High School: Ryan Ghiai, Colton Green, Zach Pila
- Wheeler High School: Ally Dilbeck, Cristina Moldoveanu, Arnav Nimmagadda, Gayatri Srivastava
Cobb Youth Leadership also is sponsored by Kennesaw State University, Maranie Brown and Family, Marietta Wrecker, and Six Flags Over Georgia.
