East Cobb restaurant update: Seed and Drift reopening May 27

Seed Kitchen & Bar

Next Wednesday two of the three East Cobb restaurants run by Doug Turbush—Seed Kitchen and Bar at Merchant’s Walk and the Drift Fish House and Oyster Bar at The Avenue—will be reopening, but not their dining rooms.

Seed, Drift and the Stem Wine Bar adjacent to Seed have been closed entirely since March 17.

In a message issued Friday, Turbush said Seed and Drift will reopen with limited hours, from Wednesday-Sunday from 5-9 p.m., and with only takeout/pickup/delivery service available.

There are new takeout menus that have been prepared, including some offerings from Stem, with appetizers and family meals that can be ordered. A statement issued by Turbush’s publicists didn’t indicate when dining room service would resume, but he did say this:

“We have been working diligently to reopen in a way that is both safe and responsible and in the best interest of our employees, guests and community. Our entire team appreciates the support we’ve received over the last two months, and we can’t wait to be back in the kitchen and serving guests in our neighborhood again.”

Diners can call ahead starting at 12 noon at Seed at 678-214-6888 and at Drift at 770-635-7641. Delivery is available via DoorDash.

Chicago’s Steak and Seafood, at Shallowford Corners, has resumed dining room service for dinner.

A few doors down, East Cobb Tavern reopened Monday and will be open from 3-8 p.m. for dining room and curbside service.

Last Monday, Suburban Tap reopened its dining room and will allow only 10 patrons per square foot and dining parties of six people or less per table. Salad bar and buffet service are discontinued for the time being.

Among the first East Cobb restaurants to reopen its dining room was Bradley’s Bar & Grill on Lower Roswell Road.

Keegan’s Irish Pub to close and reopen as East Cobb Tavern

Keegan’s Irish Pub has announced that it’s undergoing remodeling at its East Cobb/Roswell location starting Sunday and when it reopens next Friday, it will be known as East Cobb Tavern.East Cobb Tavern, Keegan's Irish Pub

The restaurant and bar located in the Shallowford Corners Shopping Center (4401 Shallowford Road) is having an Irish wake from 8-11 Saturday to close out the old place.

Menu changes are planned but there’s nothing specific for now. Keegan’s will close out at 3 p.m. on Sunday, then reopen as East Cobb Tavern next Friday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m.

Keegan’s has been the only Irish pub in the East Cobb area, and is one of four locations in metro Atlanta (Kennesaw, Vinings and Woodstock, the latter being known as Keegan’s Public House) and all feature live music.

For Saturday’s wake at Keegan’s East Cobb, there will be drink specials and raffle prizes, and they’ll be making framed Guinness, Harp and Smithwick’s mirrors available during the festivities.

Updates on the renovations are being posted on the Keegan’s Facebook page, and it’s created another for East Cobb Tavern.

East Cobb restaurant update: Clean Juice coming to Sandy Plains MarketPlace

A second Clean Juice location in East Cobb will be opening in late March. Clean Juice

The smoothie and juice bar chain announced in late December it would be expanding to the new Sandy Plains MarketPlace retail center. Last week it received a business license from the Cobb Community Development Department.

According to the restaurant and retail site What Now Atlanta, franchisee Kim Burrows is planning an April grand opening.

Clean Juice, based in Charlotte, has more than 60 locations in 18 states. A location at Woodlawn Square opened in July.

Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ was the first business to open at Sandy Plains MarketPlace, which will be anchored by a Publix GreenWise store that’s under construction.

Approved to pour

Updating some anticipated restaurant openings in the Johnson Ferry corridor: McCray’s Tavern, which is moving into the former Loyal Q/Loyal Tavern space at Parkaire Landing, got a pouring license last week from the county.

So did Mellow Mushroom, which announced last summer it was coming to Woodlawn Square. But the opening has been delayed for months, after an initial pouring license was granted in September.

No specific opening dates or timetables have been announced.

East Cobb restaurant update: Stockyard Burgers open at The Avenue; Everything Burger opens Saturday

Following up our previous post from a couple weeks back, today’s East Cobb restaurant update leads off with the subject of hamburgers, and specifically, new places to eat them.

After a soft launch over the weekend, Stockyard Burgers and Bones announced this morning that it’s open for lunch and dinner at The Avenue (4475 Roswell Road, in the former Brixx Pizza space).

The menu is the same as the other Stockyard locations. The hours are Sunday-Thursday from 11-9 and FridaySaturday from 11-10.

Fork U Concepts, the parent company of Stockyard, is also prepping a Johnson Ferry Road location for Taqueria Tsunami, in space formerly occupied by Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bagel. Fork U’s Alexis Kinsey told East Cobb News today that the company will have a better idea for a specific opening date after this week. “We are moving as fast as we can to get it open as well and shooting for mid-late May,” she said.

What Now Atlanta is reporting today that Everything Burger, a made-to-order eatery, is opening Saturday in the Blackwell Square Shopping Center (3372 Canton Road), and follows the original Everything Burger on Auburn Avenue in downtown Atlanta. Among the items are a shrimp baguette burger, and there will be a small (24-space) dining room for eat-in service.
