We’ve been getting a lot of calls and messages this morning from people trying to book a COVID vaccination appointment with Cobb and Douglas Public Health.
But that page has crashed—as has the entire CDPH website— after what county is saying is a server error “due to an overwhelming response.”
That server is run by the Georgia Department of Public Health, according to a Cobb County statement, and we don’t have an estimated time for now on when it might be back up.
Monday is the first day citizens 65 and older and their caregivers can sign up to get a vaccine, and we’ve been hearing from a good number of them over the last few days, after Cobb and Douglas Public Health announced what it calls the Phase 1A+ of its public vaccination program.
The message the county sent out shortly before 9 Monday morning said state public health officials “are working to bring the servers back online and hope to do so in the coming hours.”
A few readers who’ve called in have said when they were able to get to the site early this morning, before it crashed, they didn’t see many appointment slots available, and they never got a chance to sign up.
When the site does come back up, here’s the link for appointments.
While we appreciate hearing from readers and understand the urgency for those wanting to get a vaccine, we at East Cobb News can’t facilitate anything for you to get an appointment.
We’re not associated with the health agencies or county government, but will be updating information about the vaccine appointments as we get it.
If you have other related questions, send them our way and we’ll try to do our best to get answers.

How do I know if I have an appointment? I completed a form online, on 1/25/2021 at 9:30 am at Miller Park.
Me and my wife have been trying from long time to register but no luck. I am 80 yrs and my wife 78 yrs. I would appreciate if we can get some info as when can we get vaccine.
I’m 76 with C.O.P.D. and feel like I should be close to the front for the vaccine. Why wasn’t the 1A category broken down into more categories. For instance, “over 75”. Did the person that set up the online application for the vaccine not expect it to be overwhelmed.
I would like to be able make an appointment to get the COVID-19 Vaccine.
I live in Fulton County but have an appointment to get the covid shot in Cobb county. Will this appointment be honored when I arrive?
From Wendy Parker, East Cobb News editor:
The Cobb and Douglas Public Health website remains down and we do not have much more information to provide at this time.
We do not know when that site will become available, but it is the only place to get information about getting a COVID appointment.
You cannot book an appointment at East Cobb News, which is a community news site, nor can we relay messages to the health department.
We will be providing updated information as soon as we have it. We have been inundated from readers all day and are working to get more details.
I need to know how and when I can schedule an appointment to get the Covid 19 vaccination.
I am Krishan Handa 80 yrs and my wife 78 yrs of east cobb and would loke to know when can we get vaccines.
That this site crashed, is to me, ridiculous. YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE are in this demographic! Why weren’t you prepared for this??? Total ineptness. When will it be back up?
trying to get a vaccine how
I needa good telephone number or when will the website available , I am 67 years old
Was the option to break up the category of 65 and older not considered? Was the sub-category of “Veterans” or even “Veterans Injured” even considered to be listed before those by age?
With such a demand, it would seem easier to divide the existing selections into more categories to handle the appointment requests in a more feasible way.
I have tried to call was able to leave messages but have not heard back. I stared trying to make appointment at exactly 8 am n phones down then and have been then I was able to get thru once left message I am 71 years old can somebody assist me
