East Cobb Muss & Turner’s restaurant closes abruptly

After less than year in business, the East Cobb Muss & Turner’s restaurant has closed, effective today, at 1205 Johnson Ferry Road, in the Woodlawn Square Shopping Center.

Here’s the message that was posted on the restaurant’s social media pages, as of around 4 p.m. today:

“After a year of giving it our best shot, we have made the difficult decision to close our East Cobb location. We feel honored by the amount of support we have received from loyal fans (old and new) and are grateful to have forged such incredible relationships within this neighborhood. Thank you for your loyalty and support over the last year. It was truly a pleasure serving you. Thank you for joining us on this ride!”

Muss & Turner’s will continue to operate its original location in Smyrna, and partner Ryan Turner explained more about the decision to close in a release:

“Dining patterns among the East Cobb market varied significantly from our Smyrna location and, unfortunately, didn’t prove a financially viable model for our concept.”

Muss & Turner’s East Cobb was part of the Unsukay Concepts partnership, which operates the Smyrna Muss & Turner’s as well as Eleanor’s Restaurant in Smyrna and the Local Three Kitchen & Bar in Buckhead.

Turner, Todd Mussman and Chris Hall were part of a group that ran Common Quarter, which operated at the same Johnson Ferry Road location from 2013-17. After closing Common Quarter, they expanded the Muss and Turner’s concept into East Cobb and opened in March 2017.

Muss & Turner’s said it will honor East Cobb gift cards and loyalty points at the other Unsukay restaurants.

On Sunday the East Cobb Muss & Turner’s restaurant had been promoting its Sunday brunch menu, and in a comment thread on its Facebook page indicated that staff had been told earlier on Monday of the closing.

Salata to open in East Cobb on Feb. 1; Smallcakes opens at The Avenue; J. Crew closing

Salata East Cobb

It’s been a busy week on the new restaurant front in East Cobb. In addition to the opening of Ming’s Asian Kitchen we posted on Wednesday, Salata, the long-awaited salad and healthy foods eatery that’s been preparing space in Providence Square Shopping Center, has announced that it will open for business on Feb. 1.

The announcement came late Thursday on the Salata Twitter feed as well as the company’s Facebook page, although there was no news posted when we went by earlier today.

It’s the third Georgia location for the Houston-based Salata, which is at Atlantic Station and Glenridge Point. Salata has nearly 70 restaurants, mostly in Texas, as well as California, Illinois and Oklahoma.

J. Crew The Avenue
The J. Crew store at The Avenue is one of five to close in Atlanta this month.

The salads can be made with a selection of more than 50 vegetable toppings, 10 dressings, fruits, cheeses, fish, chicken and turkey and egg, croutons, bacon and pasta and protein options. In addition to salad wraps, Salata serves soups, desserts, lemonade and teas.

Here’s the full menu.

The hours of operation will be Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Salata is located in the freestanding former Uncle Maddio’s space at 4101 Roswell Road, Suite 1100. The phone number is 470-200-0876 and online ordering will be available.

At The Avenue East Cobb, there’s good news and bad news: Smallcakes, a cupcake and ice cream shop, has opened in Suite 1550, next to the soon-to-be-shuttered Justice, a girls clothing store, and two doors down from Panera Bread.

It’s the second attempt in East Cobb for Smallcakes, which had a location at 2424 Roswell Road. The chain operates around 200 stores in 31 states.

J. Crew, the clothing retailer, is preparing to shut down operations at The Avenue. According to a report at Tomorrow’s News Today, it’s one of five Atlanta-area stores to close this month, and the last day of business is Sunday. When we went by today, however, the store was nearly empty, as packing up was continuing.

East Cobb restaurant update: Ming’s Asian Kitchen has opened on Lower Roswell Road

Ming's Asian Kitchen Opens, East Cobb restaurants

As we noted back in November, a new restaurant was preparing to occupy the space of the former Niecy’s Cafe on Lower Roswell Road, in front of the Stonewood Village Shopping Center. The family-run Ming’s Asian Kitchen has opened for business.

Monday was opening day, bad weather and all.

The owner is a former partner of Hunan Gourmet, which was open in Sandy Springs for 25 years until closing in late November.

Ming’s Asian Kitchen’s menu features Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian fare, and in addition to entrees serves soups, wraps, noodle dishes, ramen and fried rice items.

They’ve posted a menu on their Facebook page. There’s outdoor seating and a takeout menu. Dessert is limited to Greenwood’s Ice Cream and there is no alcoholic beverage service for now.

Ming’s is open for lunch Monday-Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday is dinner only, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The address is 4665 Lower Roswell Road, Suite 101, and the phone number is 770-693-9452.

Café 33 restaurant closes after more than six years in Sprayberry area

Cafe 33 restaurant closes

Late Friday night the Café 33 restaurant on East Piedmont Road announced it has closed, but gave no reason for the decision. The restaurant’s website also has been taken down, and the last day of business was New Year’s Eve.

On the restaurant’s Facebook page was the following message:

Cafe 33 would like to Thank all of our loyal customers who have supported us during the last 6 1/2 years.

We are very appreciative of your friendships and your business. We are sorry to say that we must close our doors at this time.

THANK YOU again and please continue to support the small family owned businesses in your community. We cannot survive without you.

UPDATED, 5:30 p.m. Saturday: We went by Café 33 after posting this, and noticed the same message posted in the windows and on the front door (and added the photo at the top and to the right).

All of the furniture had been cleared out of the lobby and dining area.

A further message from the restaurant about its closure was added to a comment thread earlier this afternoon:

Unfortunately, the foot traffic in the area has subsided so much that we were forced to shut the doors as well as not having support from our landlord on such issues as flooding coming in the front door, etc. We hope to maybe relocate but it wouldn’t be for a while. We will keep everyone posted…but for now Thank you from all of us.

Returning to original post:

Café 33 was started by Shane Clements, a Sprayberry High School graduate, in honor of his mother, and opened for breakfast and lunch at 2595 Sandy Plains Road, right across the street from his old school.

The restaurant moved to the Sprayberry Collection Shopping Center across the intersection at 2595 East Piedmont Road and added a dinner menu and a catering service.

Café 33 is the second Northeast Cobb restaurant in recent weeks to close. On Christmas Eve, The Rib Ranch closed after nearly 35 years on Canton Road.

The Rib Ranch restaurant closes after nearly 35 years on Canton Road

The Rib Ranch restaurant closes

Christmas Eve was the last day in business for The Rib Ranch, a barbecue restaurant at 2063 Canton Road (near the split with the Canton Road connector).

WhatNowAtlanta reported that the owners announced that the restaurant was serving for the last time at 2 p.m. today.

There wasn’t an initial reason given for the closure when the announcement was first made on Dec. 18. The following day, Barbara Folwell, one of the longtime owners of The Rib Ranch, said on the restaurant’s Facebook page that she has purchased a cafe in Canton and plans to add The Rib Ranch there.

She didn’t respond to customers’ questions about the business reportedly losing its lease.

Folwell said she is hopeful the new restaurant will be approved by the summer, since variances and renderings are required, but in the meantime, she is operating the Keithsburg Cafe for breakfast and lunch, with a country cooking menu, at its location on Ball Ground Highway.

In addition to serving a full barbecue menu, The Rib Ranch has been a meeting spot for many civic groups and other organizations over the years, including the East Cobb Lions Club.

The Rib Ranch opened in 1983 at the site of a former hot dog stand. Cindy Newman, the original owner, moved from Idaho and turned it into a family-run business, selling the restaurant and a related catering operation to her siblings David and Barbara in 1992.

The restaurant building burned down in 1995 after being struck by lightning in a storm, and The Rib Ranch didn’t reopen until 1997.

After that, however, the Rib Ranch won several awards at the Taste of Marietta.

EAST COBB RESTAURANTS UPDATE: Black Swan Tavern, La Novia Taqueria now open

Black Swan Tavern

Two new East Cobb restaurants we’ve been mentioning in recent weeks finally opened their doors this week.

The Black Swan Tavern (1401 Johnson Ferry Road, Suite 128, Merchants Festival Shopping Center), the first Cobb location for the Dunwoody Restaurant Group, is open for lunch and dinner daily, serving up traditional English pub fare, salads, sandwiches and a robust beer menu. Black Swan Tavern

La Novia Taqueria (255 Village Parkway, Paper Mill Village, Suite 330) is open for dinner daily and is the newest venture from the Moxie Burger ownership group, which operates the original location nearby in Paper Mill Village.

Both new places are located in spaces that have seen a number of restaurants come and go. The Black Swan Tavern is where Churchill’s Pub operated for many years. La Novia Taqueria is in space that once was Caffe Fortunato and Valenti’s.

They also are attempting to fill a gap menu-wise. The only other pub-style restaurants in East Cobb are Keegan’s on Shallowford Road at Johnson Ferry Road, and the Rose & Crown Tavern on Powers Ferry Road.

The taqueria concept is getting another go in East Cobb after the closure of Cheeky Taqueria at The Avenue (where Tin Lizzy Cantina is located now). The Taqueria Tsunami group based at the Marietta Square is making plans to convert the old Caribou Coffee location on Johnson Ferry, and recently opened a location in Sandy Springs.

The Taqueria Tsunami group of restaurants also includes Stockyard Burgers and Bones, which is slated to open next spring at The Avenue.

Here’s what the management The Black Swan Tavern says it’s trying to convey with its atmosphere:

“We believe in ‘snugness not smugness’ and want you to feel that this is part of your neighbourhood and after all we all need our ‘local’!”

The hours are 11:30 a.m.-1 a.m. Monday-Thursday; 11:30 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday and 12:30 p.m.-midnight Sunday. Phone is 678-401-5286.

La Novia Taqueria is open 5:30- 9 p.m. seven days a week, phone 678-903-5858. The Moxie Burger group, which has a second East Cobb location on Shallowford Road and another in Roswell, is also stressing the “neighborhood gathering place” theme, ” . . . a place where families and friends of all ages can eat, drink, visit, and relax together.”

The dinner menu features 10 taco variations, including duck and chorizo, and there are soups, salads, full plates, a children’ menu and a drink menu with a variety of margarita options.

Black Swan Tavern opening delayed to next week

Black Swan Tavern

We mentioned over the weekend that the opening for the Black Swan Tavern (1401 Johnson Ferry Road, in the Merchants Festival Shopping Center) was set for Thursday.

But that’s not going to happen, as health inspection delays and scheduled fundraisers this weekend are pushing back the opening into early next week. From the tavern’s Facebook page: “It’ll probably be Tuesday but we are pushing for Monday. Cheers and our apologies!”

Stockyard Burgers and Bones coming to The Avenue East Cobb

Stockyard Burgers and Bones
Stockyard Burgers and Bones is moving into the former Brixx pizza space at The Avenue East Cobb (East Cobb News file photo).

Earlier this fall East Cobb News reported on plans to open a Taqueria Tsunami restaurant at the old Caribou Coffee/Einstein Bros. Bagel location on Johnson Ferry Road. As it turns out, the owners of that Marietta-based Latin-Asian fusion chain also have their eyes on expanding their Stockyard Burgers concept to East Cobb.

Scoop OTP is reporting that Fork U Concepts is planning an early 2018 opening for Stockyard Burgers and Bones at The Avenue East Cobb, in the former Brixx pizza location.

It’s the latest development in a flurry of news about forthcoming East Cobb restaurants. Last week we reported that La Novia Taqueria, operated by the Moxie Burger ownership team, is hiring for its new spot at Paper Mill Village.

Fork U Concepts has been gradually expanding its various restaurant brands in recent months in metro Atlanta. The company got and received a zoning stipulation from the Cobb Board of Commissioners to remove the drivethrough at the former Caribou Coffee and restripe the parking lot to expand availability to 42 spaces for Taqueria Tsunami, which is expected to open in March.

Stockyard Burgers and Bones first opened on the Marietta Square and has expanded to Vinings and soon will open in Sandy Springs. East Cobb will be its fourth location.

Taqueria Tsunami also began on the Marietta Square and has expanded to Woodstock, Athens, Roswell and Simpsonville, Ky. and also is planning an opening soon for Sandy Springs.

The Black Swan Tavern has been gearing up for opening at the Merchants Festival Shopping Center (1401 Johnson Ferry Road, in the old Churchill’s Pub space), since the summer. The owners from Dunwoody Restaurant Group announced Thursday that it also is beginning the hiring process, and that “the doors open next week.”

EAST COBB RESTAURANT UPDATE: La Novia Taqueria hiring at Paper Mill Village

La Novia Taqueria

We drove by Paper Mill Village this afternoon and saw that the much-anticipated opening of La Novia Taqueria (by Chas D’Huyvetter and his Moxie Burger venture) is getting closer.

While there’s no specific date that’s been announced yet (we’re placing a call and will update with that information when we get it) there is a hiring sign that’s been posted. On the Moxie Burger Facebook page, the following message was posted on Monday:

“Moxie’s girlfriend La Novia is gearing up for their opening. We are looking for hardworking responsible applicants. Help us spread the word.”

The La Novia space is next to Camp’s Kitchen and was formerly occupied by Valentino’s and Caffé Fortunato. The exterior has been repainted from its previous charcoal look.

La Novia Taqueria will be the fourth restaurant for D’Huyvetter, a Pope High School graduate who opened his first Moxie Burger at Paper Mill Village in March 2012, and has expanded to Shallowford and Trickum Roads and to Founders Square in downtown Roswell.

Northeast Cobb restaurant gets liquor license despite community opposition

Paprik'a, Northeast Cobb restaurant
The proposed Paprik’a restaurant is located at the former sites of a Pizza Hut and Donny’s Home Cooking on Sandy Plains Road. (East Cobb News photo by Wendy Parker)

The Cobb Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a request for a liquor license for a proposed Northeast Cobb restaurant that has been fought by nearby residents for the last two years.

By a 4-1 vote, the commissioners granted the alcohol permit to Naseeb Rana of Kasbah Corp., who wants to open the Paprik’a Restaurant at 4674 Sandy Plains Road. The space has been empty since 2015, and is adjacent to the Sandy Plains Village Shopping Center, at Sandy Plains and Woodstock Road (Highway 92).

Only commissioner JoAnn Birrell, whose district included the area until last year, voted against Rana’s application. The commissioners took up the matter after Rana appealed a denial for a pouring license by the Cobb License Review Board.

Residents from the Chatsworth, Jefferson Park and Jefferson Township neighborhoods, located just south of the commercial area off Sandy Plains, have said Rana has not been forthcoming with her plans since trying to get the alcohol license.

Paprik'a location map
The star signifies the proposed Paprik’a restaurant site. Click for a larger view.

They said she hasn’t always communicated with the neighborhood about her plans and expressed concern about traffic and parking issues.

“This application has been denied twice, and there have been so many red flags,” said Lisa Hanson, representing the Chatsworth Homeowners Association. “We are all for a renovated building.”

Hanson said Rana initially had proposed opening a nightclub at the location that would be open very late, and a stop-work order was issued. Those events, Hanson said, “made us question whether this application was following law.”

Both Rana, a graduate of Lassiter High School, and her attorney, Lisa Morchower, denied there were ever plans for a nightclub. Rana said she wants to have valet parking for Paprik’a since there’s limited space around the building, and explained that she has revised her menu to reflect her business’ primary function as a restaurant.

Morchower said the proposed hours for Paprik’a would be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Rana said she was being unfairly “targeted” by the community, and insisted that her restaurant is similar to others in the area. “I don’t see why my small restaurant will make such a big impact,” she said.

Sandra Richardson, the Cobb business license manager, said the Paprik’a site was originally a Pizza Hut that opened in 1998 and served alcohol. After that, a restaurant called Donny’s Home Cooking operated at the location until 2015 but did not serve liquor.

Hanson said nearby residents have also dealt with noise issues from the Movie Tavern, which opened in 2013, with garbage trucks making pickups late at night. She said there have been numerous violations of other stipulations by DDR Sandy Plains, the shopping center property owner.

But commissioner Bob Ott, who represents the area, said he was satisfied with the application and said that if traffic and parking ever become an issue, the community can raise them at that time.

“We have to let the restaurant open before we know,” he said, adding that Rana’s appeal hearing often felt like a zoning hearing. “Alcohol doesn’t increase traffic. Ms. Rana has her work cut out for her, but she’s made a tremendous effort to change her menu.”

Ott said that unlike a zoning, a liquor license holder has to satisfy all stipulations and be approved for renewals yearly.

Birrell said: “I’ve heard the concerns of the community, and I cannot support this.”

The Sandy Plains Village area has been in transition recent years. It was the location of a Kroger and Stein Mart before the Movie Tavern opened. A Walmart Neighborhood Grocery also opened there in 2013 but closed earlier this year.

Ribbon-cutting scheduled for Sage Woodfire Tavern Windy Hill

Sage Woodfire Tavern

The Sage Woodfire Tavern Windy Hill (3050 Windy Hill Road) opened for business last month (previous East Cobb News post here), but an official ribbon-cutting event is slated for Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The ribbon-cutting was rescheduled; the special guests include District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott, CBS 46 Meteorologist Ella Dorsey and former Georgia Bulldog/Miami Dolphin Randy McMichael.

“Our priority is to insure that our guests feel like an honored visitor in my family’s home,” said James Liakakos, President of Sage Woodfire Tavern restaurants.

After the ribbon-cutting, the restaurant will re-open to the public for normal dinner service at 3:30 p.m.

Sage Woodfire Tavern Windy Hill has a general dining room capacity of 250 and a private dining room that seats 70 for business meetings, family celebrations and other special uses.

Restaurants in the Powers Ferry Road area have had a tough go in recent years. The Sage Woodfire Tavern is located in the former Houston’s Restaurant space that’s been vacant since early 2013.

Down the street, Sal Grosso’s and TGI Friday’s have been closed; only Rose & Crown Tavern, which opened in 2010, remains in that vicinity.

What has changed is the arrival of SunTrust Park, which is drawing restaurants to the area, not just to The Battery complex adjacent to the stadium.

East Cobb Civic Association gives nod to Taqueria Tsunami site plan proposal

Taqueria Tsunami East Cobb

A follow-up to the story we reported here Monday about a proposed Taqueria Tsunami in East Cobb going up in the old Caribou Coffee/Einstein Bagel space on Johnson Ferry Road: It’s gotten a recommendation of conditional approval by the East Cobb Civic Association.

During its monthly business meeting Wednesday, the group voted to recommend approval of a site plan amendment being proposed on behalf of Fork U Concepts, the Marietta company that runs the six-restaurant Latin-Asian fusion concept chain, but with some stipulations.

Those recommendations include the district commissioner (Bob Ott) signing off on building renderings for the new restaurant, a landscaping plan for the property and front signage, none of which have been submitted to the Cobb Zoning Department.

The 0.70-acre tract at 1275 Johnson Ferry Road has been vacant since Einstein Bagels left in 2015. The land was first zoned for commercial use in 1978 as a Krystal fast-food restaurant (Caribou replaced it in 1995 and closed in 2013).

Amor Design Group, an architectural design firm submitting the application, wants to revise the site plan to remove the drivethru window used at the former Caribou location, in order to increase parking. The proposal calls for a parking expansion to 42 spaces that would include restriping.

The ECCA, which represents more than 90 homeowners associations and other individuals, is a citizens group that provides advisory opinions to the Cobb Planning Commission and Cobb Board of Commissioners on zoning and land use cases. While it wields no official power, its influence is frequently considered (Ott is a former ECCA president), especially when community opposition arises.

One other thing to note about the Taqueria Tsunami case: It’s considered “other business” in Cobb zoning parlance since it’s a site plan amendment proposal, instead of a pure rezoning matter.

Therefore, this case doesn’t need to go before the Cobb Planning Commission and instead will be heard by the Cobb Board of Commissioners on Sept. 19.

A zoning case that was on next Thursday’s Cobb Planning Commission agenda but that has been continued until October is the proposed redevelopment of the former Mountain View Elementary School (Z-053-2017). The nearly 14-acre tract would be converted into a mixed-use complex of restaurants, grocery, retail, banking and other commercial uses.

According to Jill Flamm of the ECCA, the applicant, Brooks Chadwick Capital LLC, is asking for more time to work with the community.

She also briefed ECCA members on other zoning and land use cases that have no new information to report. They include another high-profile September case, proposed by Lidl Grocery (OB-016-2017) to redevelop the Park 12 Cinema on Gordy Parkway, and a proposal by S & B Investments to add a drivethru window at the Starbucks Coffee location near Paper Mill Village, at 31 Johnson Ferry Road (OB-028-2017).

The ECCA has recommended denial of the Lidl Grocery application and supports the Starbucks addition.

Also on Wednesday, the ECCA voted to hold an application by Blair Waldron to amend a site plan for 1.28 acres on the north side of Roswell Road, just west of East Piedmont Road, to allow for a 16,000-square-foot medical and dental office building.

The land is located between a Bank of America branch and the East Cobb United Methodist Church. The proposed building would house Waldron Dentistry, which is currently located at 3020 Roswell Road, near Old Canton Road.

Flamm said no renderings have been submitted, and there are 34 pages of stipulations to consider. Much of that stems from a litigation settlement in 1999. Here’s the file information on OB-041-2017 from the Cobb Zoning Department, which hasn’t done a staff analysis for the application since it came in after the Aug. 4 commenting deadline.

Sage Woodfire Tavern announces September opening for Windy Hill location

Sage Woodfire Tavern Windy Hill

More East Cobb restaurant news, following Monday’s posts about Loyal Q/Sugar Benders and a proposed Taqueria Tsunami in the Johnson Ferry corridor: the new Sage Woodfire Tavern location at Windy Hill Road and Powers Ferry Road is opening next week.

The hiring process is underway, and social media accounts have been started (Facebook, InstagramTwitter) for the new restaurant, located in the old Houston’s space at 3050 Windy Hill Road.

According to the office of Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott, a ribbon-cutting and open house reception for invited guests is scheduled for next Thursday, Sept. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with service to the public starting at 4 p.m.

This will be the third Sage Woodfire Tavern location, along with Alpharetta and Dunwoody. It’s located in restaurant space that has been vacant since Houston’s at Wildwood closed in Jan. 2013.

That’s also in a Powers Ferry corridor that’s been challenging for restaurants in recent years. TGI Friday’s and Sal Grosso are among the more notable casualties, along with Houston’s. An exception is the Rose & Crown Tavern, which opened in 2010 at 1391 Powers Ferry Road, just north of the new Sage Windy Hill.

The opening of nearby SunTrust Park earlier this year has been a magnet for new eateries located in The Battery, adjacent to the new stadium for the Atlanta Braves, and in the surrounding area.

The Infinite Dining Group which runs the Sage Woodfire Tavern also operated the Sage Social Kitchen & Bar in East Cobb, which closed in April after being open for only a few months. Previously the location of Chequer’s and Houlihan’s, that space in the Merchants Festival Shopping Center (1401 Johnson Ferry Road) remains vacant.

Across the parking lot, the Black Swan Tavern is preparing for opening with a date yet to be determined (previous East Cobb News coverage here). A liquor license approval is still pending.

Taqueria Tsunami restaurant eyed for former East Cobb Caribou Coffee location

Caribou Coffee East Cobb, Taqueria Tsunami

An early check into a really busy September Cobb zoning calendar (especially in East Cobb) revealed this agenda item: the growing, Marietta-based Taqueria Tsunami Latin-Asian fusion restaurant concept may be headed this way.

An application in the “Other Business” section, OB-039-2017, has been filed by Amor Design Studios on behalf of Fork U Concepts, which runs six Taqueria Tsunami locations, including the Marietta Square, Roswell, Woodstock, Athens and soon in Sandy Springs.Caribou Coffee East Cobb, Taqueria Tsunami

The East Cobb location would be at 1275 Johnson Ferry Road, where Caribou Coffee and an Einstein Bros. Bagels operated side-by-side.

Caribou Coffee closed in 2013, and Einstein Bros. Bagels followed in 2015.

The Cobb Planning Commission will hear the application next Thursday, Sept. 7.

Amor Design Studios, an Atlanta architectural design firm, has filed a site plan amendment which states the following intent:

“Fork U Concepts would like to improve the property by deleting the drive-thru [of the former Caribou store] and increasing the number of parking spaces by restriping the parking lot.”

The proposed site plan changes (below, click to see larger image) call for 42 total spaces, 32 of them standard-sized spaces. The total land size for the building and parking is 0.70 acres.

Some major East Cobb redevelopment proposals are also on the September calendar, and we’ll have more in forthcoming posts:

  • Z-053-2017, by Brooks Chadwick Capital, LLC, which would rezone the former Mountain View Elementary School location on Sandy Plains Road for a retail, restaurant, bank and grocery store development;
  • OB-016-2017, by Lidl US Operations, LLC, to tear down the Park 12 Cinema on Gordy Parkway and build a Lidl grocery store, a proposal that’s been delayed several times (see previous East Cobb News story) and has community opposition;
  • Z-012-2017, by SSP Blue Ridge, LLC, to rezone 21 acres northwest intersection of Terrell Mill Road and Powers Ferry Road for a mixed commercial and residential development anchored by a Kroger grocery story. This application also has been continued.
